Øystein is a freelance director and joint artistic director of Imploding Fictions and Oslo International Theatre (OIT). With OIT he received the Norwegian Hedda Award for Special Artistic Achievement 2011. Freelance directing credits include the world premieres of Krigsfortellinger by Amir Mirzai (Riksscenen, 2012) and Plass by Mette Karlsvik (Dramatikkens hus, 2011), as well as the first British performance of Sense (Nose) by Anja Hilling (Company of Angels, Southwark Playhouse 2009). Directing credits with Imploding Fictions include Flap and fear by Darren Lerigo, winner of the Drachengasse Newcomer Award 2010 (Vienna), Hamletmachine (international tour) which was awarded the Premio Internazionale Claudio Gora in Rome 2007, and Norway.Today (The Junction, Southwark Playhouse) which received the Young Angels Theatremakers Award 2007/2008. Øystein trained as a theatre director at Rose Bruford College. He is an associate artist of Company of Angels, directs radio plays for Bunbury Banter Theatre Company and works regularly as a mentor for the Norwegian arts organisation Trafo.no.
